Corona virus infection has been seen in a 4 days old baby for the first time in Nepal. District Health Office Chief Dayakrishna Pant informed that the infection was confirmed in the baby in the quarantine of Bajura.
A test conducted at the laboratory of Seti Provincial Hospital, Dhangadhi confirmed his corona. Pant said that the mother of the baby was also infected. As for the father, the result is yet to come.
The baby was born in the quarantine on May 29. Her mother and father had come from India on May 27. After coming to the district, the pregnant woman and her husband were taken directly to the quarantine.
A 2 years old girl in the same quarantine fell ill on the May 27. The girl was later referred to the district hospital, Martadi. After that, the girl was admitted in isolation and sent to Swab Dhangadhi for PCR test on May 29, said Pant. But the girl died a day before the positive result came. Her mother also had an infection. The father looked negative. They also came from India.
After the death of the girl from Corona, the swabs of 182 people in the quarantine were collected and sent to Dhangadhi. Of them, today's results have confirmed corona in 17 people, including a 4 days old baby. Of them, 9 are men and 8 are women. Reports of 72 people are yet to come.
Her mother, who was confirmed infected with a four days old baby, is now in quarantine. Chief Pant said that they are preparing to keep the mother and baby in separate isolation at the quarantine site. There is no place in the district either. They are prepared to be kept in quarantine.
